That’s why more and more people see bots as very useful tools to save a lot of time and effort when administering our server.
So, to help you, in this article we are going to explain you how to configure a bot application on Discord in a quick and easy way.
How to configure a bot application in Discord
As you’ll see below, the steps you have to follow to be able to set up the bots really easy and you shouldn’t have any problems following them.
How to create your own bot
Actually, creating a bot is very simple these days. You just have to follow these steps:
- To start, you will have to enter the Discord website.
- Now go to the option “Developers” and click on the link Developer Portal.
- In the header or top of the page, you will have to click on the “Applications” link.
- Then, the next thing is to click on “Create an application”.
You can add a name, description and avatar for the application you are creating. Once you have done this, the next thing to do is to enter information and save it, you can go to it by selecting the “Bot” tab that appears in the left panel.
To add a bot you need to select the “Add a bot” option on the right and confirm it in the pop-up message that will appear when you select the “Yes, do it” option.
This is all you have to do to create a bot. But there are still some settings to be made.
Create your token
First of all, you have to know what tokens are and how they are used.
Basically, we can say that a token is the password used by your bot to enter Discord. It is very important that you do not share this token with anyone, either on purpose or by accident. If someone else gets your token, then they can perform illegal activities.
Once you have finished with the creation of the bot, you will see the “Bot” tab, where the application you have created will appear.
On this screen you can give an avatar, create a username and make it public or private. The token can be accessed from this screen, you can see it or simply select the “copy” button to copy it to the clipboard.
When Discord asks you to paste the token, then you can use the copy button and then simply press “ctrl+v” to paste the token you have copied.
